Mohammed Shami Latest Return Update: There was speculation since Wednesday morning about Mohammed Shami that due to injury he may have to miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Shami has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the last one year to recover from an ankle injury. Now a new report of Times of India has proved all the rumors of Shami not returning false. It was told that Shami can make a comeback in the Test series against New Zealand starting from October 16.
Quoting Times of India, a BCCI source said, “Mohammed Shami’s rehab is going very well. His return in the series against New Zealand is also being seen as a possibility. BCCI specialists are “Are being taken care of and are recovering well.” This has also increased the hope that Shami can also join Team India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting in November.
Meanwhile, Shami himself gave an angry reaction on missing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While posting on X, he wrote that there has been no confirmation from him or BCCI that he will not play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shami called these news mere rumours. Shami urged people not to believe in such rumours.
Recall that Shami had suffered an ankle injury during the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He has not entered the cricket field since then. Shami has been recovering in NCA located in Bengaluru for the last one year. Shami is one of the most effective bowlers in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he has taken 40 wickets in 11 matches so far. On the other hand, if we talk about the series against New Zealand, 3 matches will be played between the two countries. If Team India wins all three matches, then its path to the World Test Championship final will become even easier.
